How to Read a Freshtag™ Temperature Indicator

August 11, 2026

Caviar is one of the most delicate and perishable foods you can order. It's a raw, minimally processed product, which means that keeping it cold from the moment it leaves our facility to the moment it reaches your door isn't just a nice-to-have — it's essential to preserving its texture, flavor, and safety. Even a short lapse in temperature during transit can affect the quality of the roe.

That's why every single shipment we send includes a Freshtag™ temperature indicator. This small but important label travels alongside your caviar and gives you an easy, at-a-glance way to confirm that your order stayed within a safe temperature range the entire time it was in transit.

Where to Find It

The Freshtag™ indicator is attached directly to the small bag holding your caviar, and that bag always sits inside the insulated packaging your order ships in. So when you open your delivery, look inside the insulated bag for the small caviar pouch — the Freshtag™ label will be right there.

How to Read the Indicator

Once you've located the Freshtag™, check its color as soon as your order arrives:

  • Green or Yellow — Your order stayed within the optimal temperature range during transit. It's fresh and safe to enjoy.
  • Red — This means the temperature may have exceeded the safe range at some point during shipping. If you see red, please take a quick photo of the label and contact us right away so we can make it right.

Why It Matters

Temperature control is the single biggest factor in keeping caviar fresh from our facility to your table. The Freshtag™ gives you — and us — a transparent, reliable way to verify that cold chain was maintained throughout the journey, so you can enjoy your order with complete confidence.

If you ever have questions about your Freshtag™ reading or your delivery, don't hesitate to reach out to our team.
